Mary Koyne, 21, pictured right of Throckmorton Road, east London was convicted today (Jan 23) of the shocking crime following a trial at Snaresbrook Crown Court.
The horrific attack, carried out on December 30, 2012, in Dagenham, east London, left victim Naomi Oni, 21, scarred for life.
The court heard how Konye was dressed in an Islamic veil as she threw concentrated sulphuric over Oni.
Jurors were told that while Oni was in hospital recovering from her injuries, Konye pretended to give her a shoulder to cry on.
Dressed in black, Konye appeared to be calm when the jury of eight men
and four women delivered their guilty verdict.
Investigating officer detective chief inspector David Whellams, of the Homicide and Major Crime Command, said: "This was truly a horrific attack on the victim by someone she considered to be a friend.
Detective Chief Inspector Dave Whellams said Konye, a student from Canning Town, had carefully planned the attack.
CCTV showed Konye following Ms Oni after she finished work
"She has prepared for this over a number of months, even years, all resulting from a trivial, insignificant argument that everybody has in their everyday lives," he said.
"The result today will give Naomi only some comfort but she is never going to be away from the fact that she is scarred, every time she looks in the mirror she is going to be reminded of the fact but it will enable her to start to get some closure."
The horrific injuries sustained by acid attack victim Naomi Oni have been revealed today as Mary Konye was found guilty of throwing corrosive acid in her friend's face
Konye was said to obsessively jealous of the victim's good looks and, after a previous argument between them, hatched a plan to attack her with acid
Mary Konye (pictured in court drawing), 21, stalked Naomi Oni from the lingerie store where she worked after her friend had likened her to monster from a horror film.
Konye was warned by the judge that she faces a "substantial" jail term when she is sentenced on March 7.
