Today I checked out a few websites and Linda Ikeji's blog happened to be one of them. Lo and behold I found the following unnecessary article. Titled "Photos: Awww... see true love!"
The picture on the right accompanied it. To be honest the couple look a bit young and I don't really feel they have much business being in a relationship at the stage of their life, but what really got me was what Linda Ikeji decided to post under the picture...
"Awww, She's so proud of her handsome boyfriend. Hehe. leave am like that, monkey no fine but him mama like am. haha! Read the captions..... :-)See more pictures after the cut..."
Now considering this woman is in her thirties and should know better I had to ask myself is she in her right senses?
What has a monkey not being being fine got to do with this picture of this young couple?
Silly comments like that is why people end up hating themselves. Becoming suicidal, bleaching, and lacking all confidence. Linda obviously thought it was funny but that article has left me with a bad taste in my mouth.
Why do some black people feel the need to constantly put each other down?
Many people have similar complexions and facial features like this young man. In fact many people from Sudan tend to look quite similar to him. To me he is perfectly made by God.
Now we at African Sweetheart are not one to be putting other down, however this particular post has to be mentioned in keeping with our topics this week about loving yourself the way God made you.
